I have several hydrangeas in pots. I noticed that they did not produce flowers this year despite my tender loving care. What could be the problem?

Mama Bear, I to have some hydrangeas that are lazy and have forgotten to bloom. I think I need to do some physcial work to help them out. The links provided some great information, now to get out and do it!

I saw some hydrangeas in bloom in a garden show and they are of different variety and colors. Bigger flower clumps and there are white and pink varieties aside from the blues. They say those are new hybrids.

pot them up in pots that will give them room to grow some.... 7-9 inch pots..... then set them in the area where you will eventually plant them (use the methods of 'hardening off' if they've been in the house for the rooting.... take the time to get them used to outside!)...put them in shade with maybe some morning sun on them.... let them get used to the light there.... then in fall either plant them with six weeks till freeze or bury their pots in the ground and mulch over them till spring.... be sure to attend to their water needs all summer and into fall.... since they're still in pots!.....

You can then add sulfur to pink hydranges to make them turn blue by lowering the soil pH.
