| Cactus does not require much water. Watering once or twice a week will suffice. It is one of the easiest plants to care for. They require full sunlight, so you have to put them in a place where they can get full sunlight for a few hours a day. Cacti are not for indoors. | | | "WORK is LOVE made visible" Kahlil Gibran | |

| Good, I will try to have some cactus in my garden next time. What could be the best type of soil for cactus plant? Every time the word cactus comes into my mind, it reminds me of a desert type of soil. | | | |

| I don't have cactus in my garden yet but planting this in any type of soil would be fine, I think. My aunt have some cactus in her garden and she is using the loam type of soil. Well, I guess this type of soil will best fit to cactus, what do you think? | | | |

| It would be best to mix some sand in the soi so that it would loosen a littlel. | | | "WORK is LOVE made visible" Kahlil Gibran | |

| you may think that cacti are robust..plants since they can live ,right?but potted cacti are in need of more water than your out door cacti just make sure that the soil is moist but do not over do it.
cacti need lower PH(a bit accidic)

How often would I check the PH of the cactus' soil? Is it important that I place the cactus where the sun shines most? Do I have to put fertilizer as well?

| Some cactus in the garden is a good idea. Cactus don't need too much attention, they are just like any other plants. When you plan to have a potted cactus, just make sure the soil is not too dry. Does anyone knows where we can buy potted cactus? | | | |

| normally you can't find the cactus in many gardens. but you should have this cactus in your garden because it is easy to maintain and it will be colourfull to your gardens also since they will be somany shapes, you can have your own choice. just make sure that soil is moist.but don't overwater.cacti need lower ph(a bit acidic)water .unfortunately tap water has high ph(alkaline)levels.so set a water out side in open container and keep for 2 days . so due to this some levels of chemical can evaporate...... | | | |

I don't think its a good idea to use artificial lighting for cacti growing. It would be best to use a skylight if you want to grow cacti indoors.

So, aside from the soil's PH, I still have to consider the water's PH. I thought we could use any kind of water for cactus plant. Anyway, this information is something new. Do you think the rain water would be fine for this plant?

| Not just the light, but does the temperature matter just as much? I live in New England and the winters get cold and sometimes the house can get to be around 65 degrees. | | | |
